We had a W2 with no income, but with a code J in box 12 with a payment. Program does not allow W2s with no income, so we need a ruling on how to handle this situation.. It will likely return next year.
Our solution was to not include the W2, advising the client of what we were doing, and that they could hear from the IRS. It’s a non-taxable payment.
